COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Columbus say a landscape worker was hit by a bullet while working in a wooded area.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s partners at The Republic, the incident happened in the 1000 block of Westview Point Drive around 11 a.m. Friday. That’s in the Tipton Lakes area.

The victim, a 51-year-old man from Greensburg, thought that a BB or pellet hit him. When he went to the hospital he found that he had been hit by a .22-caliber bullet. He was treated and released from the Decatur County Hospital.

Police say the area where it happened is a wooded area. It’s possible that the shooter did not see the worker.

Police are trying to determine if someone was shooting the gun in the wooded area or from distance. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
