ICE nets 47 arrests in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested 280 people during a month long initiative nationwide. 47 of those arrested were from Indiana.

The initiative began on May 18 and ended on June 13. Those arrested were from 22 different countries, according to a release from ICE and ERO.

Those arrested from Indiana were from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Nicaragua, Vietnam and Zambia. Police say the majority of arrests were those living in Indianapolis. 21 people were arrested.

  • Fort Wayne – 10 arrests
  • Columbus – One arrest
  • Elkhart – One arrest
  • Evansville – One arrest
  • Ferdinand – One arrest
  • Goshen – Two arrests
  • Greenfield – Two arrests
  • Huntingburg – One arrest
  • Lebanon – One arrest
  • Mishawaka – One arrest
  • Plymouth – One arrest
  • Vincennes – Three arrests
  • Washington – One arrest

According to the release, a 51-year-old Guatemalan man was also arrested for prior convictions of battery, drunk driving and a hit-and-run. He was arrested in Fort Wayne. A 35-year-old was also arrested on prior convictions for drunk driving and endangering a person. He was arrested in Greenfield.

In 2014 ICE conducted 315,943 removals around the United States.
