With more rain coming, officials monitor Carroll Co. flooding

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Flooding continues in low-lying areas of Carroll County Wednesday. The Wabash River continues to rise and is expected to crest later afternoon.

The Carroll County Emergency Management Agency said the rising river will affect people along the Deer Creek and Wildcat Creek. For residents along waterways, officials remind residents to monitor levels and seek shelter before becoming stranded.

Tuesday, several teams from the Department of Natural Resources evacuated more than a dozen people near the Oakdale Dam. Conservation officers say it’s easier to get people out before conditions worsen.

“We’d rather remove them now before conditions get any worse, but that’s still up to them,” DNR District 3 Commander Lt. Dan Dulin said.

Agencies remind everyone to be aware that more rain can adversely affect the flooding conditions along all waterways.

Carroll County EMA officials said several roads south of the Oakdale Dam are flooded, as well as several roads and low-lying areas along the Wabash River and Deer Creek.
