Indiana Arts Commission to pick artists for bicentennial art

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Indiana Arts Commission says two artists or artist teams will be selected to create public art works recognizing the state’s 200th anniversary.

The works will be placed in the Indiana Bicentennial Plaza now under construction west of the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis. The Arts Commission will partner with the Indiana Department of Administration to select the artists.

The base budget for this project is at minimum $150,000 for each sculpture. The artist budget may increase up to $500,000.

The request for qualification is open to any artist 18 and older legally residing and working in the United States. Preference will be given to artists who have a relationship with the state of Indiana.

The deadline to apply is July 13.
