Riley Hospital celebrates Father’s Day

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A special gathering was held on Father’s Day to celebrate the men whose children are in the hospital.

A barbecue lunch was held Sunday at the Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health Ronald McDonald House to honor the men who are staying in the house.

The charity runs an event for moms on Mother’s Day, but this was the first event to honor dads.

“To have one of your first father’s day, or an early father’s day spent in the hospital, we want to make sure to honor those fathers and give them a moment to celebrate that accomplishment as well,” said Michelle Study-Campbell, Ronald McDonald House of Indiana.

There are more than 5,000 families that use services at the charity each year.
