Hogsett details public safety plan

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Democratic candidate for mayor Joe Hogsett has unveiled his plan for public safety, if elected.

A major highlight of his policy centers around hiring 150 more police officers for a return “neighborhood-based policing.”

Hogsett also wants to create a special unit for domestic violence and increase transparency.

“We also know that no neighborhood should be condemned to accept hopelessness as their permanent burden to bear,” Hogsett said.

Hogsett says his time as a federal prosecutor makes him well-equipped to handle public safety issues.

Both Hogsett and his opponent Chuck Brewer are making crime prevention a cornerstone of their campaigns.
