Mom buys billboard space after son’s graduation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A New Jersey mother went big to celebrate her son’s graduation – she bought billboard space.

Ovella O’Neal spent $700 on the sign that reads, “A mother can’t raise a man, but I raised a gentleman.”

O’Neal is a single mother of six. She said the sign means a lot to her, and it also sends a message to her children.

“For the males to be respectful to women — that was the meaning for me,” she said. “I don’t know too many moms that would have done this for their children.”

The billboard will stay up for several weeks.
