Beekeepers set out to remove a million bees from NY home

WALLKILL, N.Y. (AP) – Beekeepers have quite the task ahead of them as they remove an estimated 1 million honey bees that have taken up residence at a New York home.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports two beekeepers were at work Thursday removing siding on the outside of the Wallkill house to get to the bees.

The Orange County family living there discovered the bees while they were clearing trees. They were preparing to replace the siding, but couldn’t get to it because of the bees. One of the homeowners is allergic to the insects.

Marcel Witschard Jr. and Carl Witschard say it will take at least a week for them to remove the bees.
