Outages to affect some NE Indiana customers until Tuesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – A power company is warning some northeastern Indiana customers might not have electricity until Tuesday.

Indiana Michigan Power Co. says 17,690 customers still had no service as of early Sunday afternoon. The utility has brought in crews from Kentucky and Ohio and expects to have power restored to about 95 percent of its customers by Monday night.

It says the outages affect nearly 17,000 customers in Fort Wayne and Allen County. That’s about one of every nine customers there.

The National Weather Service says storms Friday and early Saturday dumped 2 to 4 inches of rain across much of northern Indiana. It posted flood warnings for several northern Indiana rivers and creeks.

It allowed a flood warning for northeastern Indiana’s Jay County to expire Sunday after flood waters receded.
