CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP/WISH) — Authorities say search teams are combing the land in southern Ohio where the body of a missing woman was found over the weekend.

Ross County Sheriff George Lavender on Monday said teams from multiple agencies were searching on land and by air for any other bodies and evidence after the body of 26-year-old Tiffany Sayre was found in rural Highland County on Saturday. She had been missing since May 8.

A couple walking through a nature preserve spotted something white at the edge of a drainage pipe running underneath the road.

Sayre had been wrapped in a bed sheet and hidden inside the edge of the drain with a crown of duct tape around her hair.

“She’s wrapped up in a blanket and you can see her breasts, her stomach, duct tape, a white blanket,” the female passerby told a 911 dispatcher.

Authorities haven’t said how she died, but officials are now studying the apparent pattern of the dumping of the bodies along waterways outside the city.

That brings the number to four women who have been found dead from the Chillicothe area since May of last year, with almost all of them dumped in creeks or streams flowing away from the town.

Two other women remain missing.

Investigators don’t know if the cases are connected. One death was ruled a homicide, another was ruled a suicide and the other was considered an overdose authorities called suspicious.

Police said the women have similar stories with most of them being hooked on drugs, and many moonlighted as prostitutes to fund their addictions.

Some of the women knew each other from drug rehab facilities in the area. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
