Dad, sons rescued from Bartholomew County river

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Three people were rescued Sunday evening after their kayaks got stuck in the Flat Rock River.

It happened around 5 p.m., about a half mile north of CR 400 N. The Bartholomew County Water Rescue Recovery Team was dispatched there to help the kayakers who were stranded on a log jam.

Crews were about to locate the three Columbus residents – a father and two sons – and rescue them.

The father told officials that his kayak hit a log and capsized. When his two sons tried to help him, they became stranded too.

Officials want to remind people that flood waters are very dangerous and unpredictable right now due to recent heavy rains.
