Docs: Parents used baseball bat, threw potatoes at son in Facebook fight

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Two parents faces several charges after investigators say they beat their 16-year-old son with a baseball bat after a dispute over Facebook.

Chad Wilkins, 42, and Cynthia Wilkins, 40, were taken into custody last week.

According to court documents, the teen told police Cynthia deactivated his Facebook account, but he reactivated it. Cynthia then pulled the 16-year-old into a bedroom where she smacked and punched him. He told investigators Chad hit him with a bat several times and both of his parents threw potatoes at him.

Officers saw injuries consistent with the teen’s story.

Cynthia admitted to posting photos of the teen to Facebook with belittling comments.

Cynthia faces two charges and Chad faces three charges, including battery with a deadly weapon and neglect of a dependent.
