Driver crashes into backyard, almost lands in swimming pool

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) —  Police believe the driver of a Honda SUV may have had some sort of health problem that caused him to lose control and crash Monday morning.

The driver was traveling north on Maplecrest Road just before 10:30 a.m. when the vehicle left the right side of the road, traveled about 500 feet across an open field, crashed through a backyard privacy fence at 7717 Hightower Place and got airborne before crashing partially into an above ground pool according to Fort Wayne police.

Medics responded and took the driver from from the SUV to a hospital in critical condition.

Police have not released the name of the driver.
