Missing man pulls himself from Wildcat Creek

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office says a man who was reported missing Sunday evening has been located.

Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, 26-year-old Kristofer Mill told dispatchers his boat had capsized and that one person was still missing in the water. Crews then searched for 27-year-old Christopher Gogolin but had to suspend the mission once the sun went down.

About two hours after the search was called off, the sheriff’s office says Gogolin himself called dispatchers telling them he pulled himself out of the water and had walked home.

Deputies made contact with Gogolin and confirmed he was in good health.

The Lafayette Fire Dive Team and the Department of Natural Resources were among the agencies that assisted in the search.
