South Split project on schedule despite rainy start

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The ramp from Interstate 65 north to Interstate 70 west has been closed for just over a month and construction is on schedule, officials say.

Despite the recent rain officials say the ramp is still expected to open before the end of July. Not much of the structural work has been affected by the rain. However, contractors are expected to start pouring concrete on both bridge decks this week and that is weather permitting.

A few other major projects are currently under way in Hamilton County and on I-65 on the south side and in Johnson County.

Two major projects on US 31 begin in May – one in Westfield near State Road 32 and another in Carmel between Interstate 465 and 116th Street. Traffic will be in single lanes as the work goes on.

Contractors on I-65 will add additional lanes between State Road 44 and Main Street in Jonson County and add auxiliary lanes between the interchanges at Main Street and Southport Road.
