Tarantula gives David Barras the creeps on set

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Larry Battson with Wildlife Educational Services joined David Barras on 24-Hour News 8 at noon to talk about a Tarantula.

David Barras was presented with a small animal crate and told Battson that scary things come in small baskets.

Battson said he wanted to dispel some rumors about the spider. Saying they do bite however not very often, unless you are a cricket or small insect.

Battson said they can detect their prey with the vibration from their legs, then their fangs come out like a pocket knife and stab their prey.

The Tarantula comes from Central America, Mexico and South America. Their fangs are about a quarter of an inch long.
