Butler choir to back up Rolling Stones at IMS

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Butler University Chorale has landed a HUGE gig.

When the Rolling Stones perform at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 4, the 26-member choral group will be on stage with them.

In 2012, the group performed with Madonna during the Super Bowl halftime show. On Independence Day, they’ll provide backup vocals during one song of the Stones’ set.

According to a release from Butler, the chorale will be broken into two groups onstage during the performance. Greg Sanders, conductor of the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus and vocal coach for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Yuletide concerts, will conduct one half, and Professor of Music Doug Spaniol will be the shadow conductor for the other half.

The group was invited to perform during Saturday’s concert shortly before the spring semester ended.

The Stones take the stage at 9 p.m. Click here for tickets.
