IMPD officer arrested while waiting to stand trial for attempted murder

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer who is supposed to stand trial for attempted murder on July 13, has been arrested again.

Justin Beaton, 32, was arrested for violating his pretrial release and is currently in the Marion County Jail.

Court documents listed online said that the violation was filed on June 29 and a warrant was issued for his arrest on June 29. The warrant was served on June 30.

According to Beaton’s attorney, he is accused of failing a drug test, where Beaton was tested for alcohol in his system.

The hearing regarding the violation is set for July 7, six days before he is supposed to stand trial for the attempted murder of his girlfriend.
