NASA says bright streak in sky was space junk

SOUTH CAROLINA (WSPA) — Facebook lit up early Monday morning with posts of bright streaks that many people saw around 1:30.

Several people, like Gene McNeil said the flash of light lasted for about a minute, streaking from one side of the sky to the other.

Immediately, many people identified it as a meteor. The image was even picked up on NASA’s Fireball Cam.

Nasa’s Meteor Specialist, Bill Cooke, said that the streak was moving too slow to be a meteor and lasted too long in the sky.

Cooke believes the streak could have been space junk reentering the earth.
