Preparations underway for July 4 Rolling Stones show

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — As the Rolling Stones get ready to return to Indianapolis, fans and construction workers are preparing for the big night.

Chopper 8 flew over Speedway Tuesday morning as a crew built the stage for the July 4 show.

It’s a night that local Stones fan John Pritchett has been looking forward since he bought his ticket the day they went on sale.

“I can’t wait. I remember then they put the billboards up around town like, we might be coming. And then they actually released the date,” Pritchett said as “Paint it Black,” filled his Indianapolis office.

Tickets are still available through the IMS website, the Rolling Stones website, and through other vendors, like Circle City Tickets. Circle City Tickets owner Mike Peduto said people have been calling about the concert every day for months.

“Probably starting about a week before the rumors started,” Peduto said. “We had people that had heard about it even before then.”

It will be the Stones’ first show in Indianapolis since 1994, when they didn’t sell out the RCA Dome. Pritchett thought they’d never come back after that. He’s happy he was wrong.

“The fact that they’re going to be at the track makes it even more special,” Pritchett said. “I’ve seen them at Churchill Downs when they played the track there and I think it’s going to be even better here.”

Before the Stones, Rascall Flatts and Saints of Valory will take the stage. A fireworks show will follow the performance.
