Rainfall impacts local golf courses

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – Heavy rainfall Sunday and Monday night left golf courses in Fishers and Carmel flooded.

There were nine holes at the Prairie View Golf Club that were closed towards the back of the property.

The White River overflowed reaching around 18 feet. The golf cart paths were submerged and the pond dumped fish onto the green. The water level near the fairway at the thirteenth hole was five feet deep.

The manager said they used a pump and opened the flood gates near the high areas of concern, but this set back didn’t stop golfers from hitting the range in the front.

“Nothing would stop me from coming here on my day off. There are still nine holes open to play. I come here all the time, it’s a really nice course,” said Joe Diehl.

“I love coming here. The front course is just as good as the back course,” said golfer, Ethan Colvin.

Staff plans to reopen the nine holes towards the back of the course on Thursday.
