Utility: About 2,400 Fort Wayne-area customers still without power

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – A utility says some of its Fort Wayne-area customers might not have power restored until Wednesday night, five days after a storm with wind gusts topping 60 mph hit the area.

Indiana Michigan Power Co. reported on its website that nearly 2,400 customers in Allen County remained without service at noon Tuesday. It says the 200 remaining outages are scattered and some affect just one customer. The utility says it expects to have service restored to all of them by Wednesday night.

The utility says crews have found 81 broken poles so far and 72 more poles with damaged equipment.

The storms Friday led to more than 600 separate outages affecting more than 30,000 customers in the Fort Wayne area.
