4 juveniles arrested after thefts from Whiteland vehicles

WHITELAND, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Whiteland say four juveniles are facing charges after a series of thefts from vehicles this week.

According to Whiteland Police Chief Rick Shipp, officers received a complaint around midnight Wednesday about suspicious individuals in the area. Police arrived and detained two juveniles. A New Whiteland Police Department officer responded soon after, and located the other two.

According to Chief Shipp, after talking with the juveniles, it was determined they were breaking into vehicles. He said the juveniles had their faces painted and had backpacks.

Police recovered items that had been taken from inside the vehicles and returned those items to the owners. The juveniles were taken to juvenile detention and their parents were notified. All will appear in Johnson County court sometime this week.

Chief Shipp says most of the vehicles in the thefts were unlocked. He says six vehicles were broken into, but there could be more.
