Nearly all power restored from Fort Wayne weekend storm

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – Indiana Michigan Power Co. says nearly all outages in the Fort Wayne area have been repaired after a weekend storm knocked out electricity to more than 30,000 homes and businesses.

The utility said Wednesday morning that fewer than 10 customers remained without electricity following Saturday’s storm. The storm had winds topping 60 mph that knocked down many trees around Fort Wayne. More than 2,000 customers were in the dark on Tuesday.

The company brought in crews from Kentucky and Ohio to help repair the more than 600 separate outages in the area. The company says crews have replaced 48 transformers and 88 broken utility poles.
