INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say one person died and three people were hurt after an overnight shooting on the west side.
Officers say they found one victim on Lynn Street near Michigan Street and White River Parkway. Police say they found him shot in the head in front of an abandoned house just before midnight. He was taken to the hospital in very serious condition and later died.
Police say the three other people showed up later to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital with gunshot wounds. Officers say those victims were all shot in the legs and their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. Police say they believe all four victims were together and someone drove up in a cargo van and started shooting.
“What we believe at this point — the individuals were in front of an abandoned house, somebody came up in a vehicle and fired shots at them,” said IMPD Lt. Richard Riddle. “We do have multiple caliber shell casings on the scene so we’re figuring out exactly how many shooters we had tonight and our investigators are talking to witnesses and conducting their investigation.”
Police do not know how many shooters were in that car. Updates should be coming throughout Friday morning.
