Fourth of July weekend events kick off Friday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One of the biggest bands of all time will be in Indianapolis Saturday night. The Rolling Stones will take the stage at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday, but it’s not the only event happening this weekend. There are plenty of events and activities all over Indianapolis for the whole family to enjoy.

ROLLING STONES AT IMS

Hundreds of people will camp out at IMS for the weekend to go to The Rolling Stones concert and watch the fireworks Saturday night. Crews have been setting up for this highly-anticipated concert all week long.

Campers will start moving in at 10 a.m. Friday. Gates open for the concert Saturday at 4 p.m. Once fans are inside, they are not allowed to leave IMS. There are also some restrictions on what you can bring to the concert. Fans need to leave coolers, chairs and umbrellas in the car. Even iPads are not allowed. Concert-goers can bring blankets and small backpacks.

The Indianapolis Indians will take on the Louisville Bats at Victory Field Saturday, Sunday and Monday night. Tickets are sold out for Saturday’s game, but tickets to Sunday’s and Monday’s games were still available as of Friday morning. On both Saturday and Sunday night, fans will be able to enjoy fireworks downtown. The weekend games start at 6:05 p.m. Monday’s game starts at 7:05 p.m.PICNIC ON MASS AVE

Massachusetts Avenue will turn into a giant picnic Saturday evening. There will be music, street performers, face painters and much more entertainment for the whole family. You can buy a ticket online. The ticket reserves a seat and access to the all-you-can-eat buffet. The picnic starts at 6:30 p.m. and will last until after the fireworks show from Regions Bank Tower.

GEORGIA STREET INDYPENDENCE DAY CONCERT

The INDYpendence Day concert on Georgia Street starts Saturday at 2 p.m. and will run until 10 p.m. Panic! at the Disco and several other bands will be performing. Tickets are $20.FOUNTAIN SQUARE MUSIC FESTIVAL

On July 4, twelve local and national acts will perform on two stages. There will also be free music Friday starting at 6:30 p.m. The festival will take over Shelby Street between Prospect Street and Woodlawn Avenue. White Rabbit, Radio Radio, Hi-Fi and Joyful Noise will also host concerts from 8 – 11 p.m.CARMELFEST

CarmelFest will begin at 4 on Friday afternoon. There will be a KidsZone, food, live music and a festival atmosphere. There will also be fireworks Saturday night around 9:45.
