Indiana Bicentennial Train heading to state fairgrounds

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Indiana Historical Society’s special train car traveling exhibit is moving to the state fairgrounds to help mark Indiana’s upcoming bicentennial of statehood.

The historical society and the Indiana State Fair Commission say they’ve signed a five-year agreement for the Indiana Bicentennial Train to be on hand for fairgoers. The train’s three air-conditioned box cars are used as galleries on the themes of transportation, land use, talent and community.

The train is in the process of being moved to the state fairgrounds, where 200 feet of track has been installed for it on the northeast side of the fairgrounds. It will debut at its new location during this summer’s state fair, which runs Aug. 7-23.

Indiana marks its 200th anniversary of becoming a state in 2016.
