Indians’ Richard acquired by Cubs

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  (WISH)- Indians’ pitcher Clayton Richard has has been acquired outright by the Chicago Cubs, the team announced Friday evening.

The transition for Richard will be quick; he’s set to start tomorrow for Chicago at Wrigley Field against the Marlins.

The Lafayette native signed a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates this December.  His contract included an “upward mobility” clause, which opened a 72-hour window in which the Pirates had to make him available to the other teams in Major League Baseball.
