Man dies after motorcycle, car crash in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The Lafayette Police Department has identified the man killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. Friday on McCarty Lane.

Police say 32-year-old Cory Hood of Lafayette was traveling west on a motorcycle when a car driven by 80-year-old Channing Blickenstaff, of West Lafayette, turned into the oncoming path of the motorcycle.

The car and the motorcycle collided, causing Hood to sustain severe head trauma. Police say Hood was not wearing a helmet.

Hood was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Blickenstaff was not injured in the crash.

Investigators say that at this time, drugs and alcohol are not considered to be a factor.

This traffic crash remains under investigation.
