Indiana man pleads guilty in crash that killed passenger

MADISON, Ind. (AP) – A southern Indiana man has pleaded guilty to several drunken driving charges stemming from an October crash that killed a Kansas man who was riding in his car.

Twenty-three-year-old Jordan T. Griffin pleaded guilty Wednesday to operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and four other drunken driving charges.

He faces up to 22 years in prison when a Jefferson County judge sentences him on Aug. 31.

Prosecutors say Griffin was speeding at 82 mph along U.S. 421 on Oct. 4 when he crossed the center line and struck another car. The impact killed passenger John T. Walker, a 21-year-old from Arkansas City, Kansas.

The Madison Courier reports Griffin had a blood-alcohol content of 0.38. That’s nearly five times Indiana’s legal limit to drive of 0.08 percent.
