Police investigate fatal shooting in Koscisusko County

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE)   The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a shooting where a son allegedly shot his father to death. It happened south of the town of Leesburg a little after 9:00 Friday night.

According to 24-Hour News 8 sister station, WANE, deputies responded to a call of shots fired just after 9 p.m. Friday at 609 East Levi Lee Road in Leesburg. Deputies arrived at the home and found Ronnie Poe, 60, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head.  Officers were told his son, 35-year-old Ryan Daniel Poe, was in another room in the house. Ryan Daniel Poe left the house when police arrived and was immediately taken into custody without incident. The two men lived together.

Ronnie Poe died at the scene. Ryan Daniel Poe has been arrested on a preliminary charge of felony murder.  He currently is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted with the investigation by members of the Kosciusko County Major Crimes Task Force/Crime Scene Unit and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
