Missing man found 30 miles from home 5 days later

DEKALB CO., Ind. (WANE) – Officials in DeKalb County have located a Hamilton man who went missing for several days.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department announced on Saturday, July 4 that 32-year-old Derek L. Pinkham was last seen at his house on June 30 between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the area of County Road 4A in Hamilton.

According to 24-Hour News 8 sister station, WANE, he was found Sunday, about 30 miles west Kendallville. Police said he was uninjured.

Police believed that he is in danger due to his limited ability to take care of himself and not having medication with him. Investigators also thought he had help moving belongings from his home. Since being found, police have looked into contacting social services to assist him.

Authorities didn’t provide details about how Pinkham was found.
