Clinton posts encouraging comment for gay child in viral photo

NEW YORK (WISH) – Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is being praised for a response she posted on social media, offering reassurance to a young boy.

On Friday, the Facebook page “Humans of New York” posted a photo of a boy with a caption indicating that he is gay and fearful about his future.

Clinton commented on the post, saying, “Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing. You will surprise yourself with what you’re capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you – there will be lots of them. -H.”

The Clinton campaign confirmed Sunday that the posting came personally from her. Monday morning, her comment had more than 71,000 likes.

The post was also commented on by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying “Not only will people like you, they’ll love you. I just heard of you and I love you already.”
