Terre Haute man killed in hit-and-run Saturday night

SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTHI) – Around 10:45 Saturday night, a man riding his moped in Sullivan County was killed by a hit-and-run driver.

67-year-old Richard “Ricky” Moon of Terre Haute died from severe head trauma.

Moon was headed north bound on U.S. 41 near Frakes when his moped was struck from behind.

The vehicle that hit Moon took off.

According to Sullivan County Sheriff, Clark Cottom, Moon’s moped did have working rear tail lights.

Sullivan County is working with Indiana State Police, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and Terre Haute City Police to reconstruct the accident.
