Prosecutor charges inmate with crime

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A woman was charged with identity theft and a check counterfeiting scheme that included more than 20 victims.

According to the Marion County prosecutor, Kacey Rucker, is accused of stealing and using credit cards, debit cards, checks and the identities of people while they worked at businesses in Indianapolis, Greenwood, Avon and Kokomo.

Multiple victims reported a similar scenario of theft from their place of employment. Rucker was identified as one of a group of people who would allegedly enter a business, gain access to employee areas and then steal the employees wallets.

The charges were brought against Rucker on Wednesday and are the result of an investigation by the IMPD Organized Crime Unit.

Rucker is currently incarcerated on a unrelated case with the Indiana Department of Corrections.
