Dad arrested after baby suffers head, chest injuries

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Rush County man was arrested after investigators say his 1-month-old child suffered head and chest injuries in June.

Indiana State Police officials said the baby was initially taken to Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield before being transferred to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

The baby’s father, 36-year-old WIlliam Hurd, was arrested July 1 on preliminary charges of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury and battery on a person under the age of 14.
