Florida woman claims she tipped off FBI on Jared Fogle

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A Florida woman claims she is the one who gave the FBI information that led to Tuesday’s raid of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle’s home.

WWSB in Sarasota, Florida interviewed the woman whose voice and image were distorted. WWSB reported that the woman claimed she met Fogle 10 years ago, and that he traveled to the area often to attend events like the America Heart Association walk.

The woman claims that Fogle made inappropriate comments that alarmed her and that’s why she got the FBI involved, according to WWSB.

“The subject matter is similar to what the FBI found when they raided his home. It goes deeper than that. That’s exactly what started this. When I presented it to the FBI the first thing that they said to me is, ‘Is this who I think this is?’ and I said ‘yes it is,’ and it just went full gear after that.”

WWSB reports that the woman said over the course of their 10 year relationship, the two spoke numerous times.

“It was obvious to me that he found himself to be very comfortable with me. He said something to me when we were off camera and that really stuck with me because I thought to myself, did he really just say that to me?” she said.

After that, the woman made contact with the FBI according to WWSB. The station also reports that the agency had her wear a wire to record phone conversations with Fogle.

On Tuesday, the FBI, along with local law enforcement, raided Fogle’s Zionsville home as part of a child porn investigation.

This comes just months after Russell Taylor, the former Executive Director of Fogle’s charity, the Jared Foundation, was arrested on child pornography charges.

After Taylor’s arrest, the Jared Foundation announced plans to cut ties with Taylor. However, a Taylor family member tells WISH-TV that Fogle continued to support Taylor. Fogle’s attorney would not comment on the matter.

Taylor’s attorney would not confirm or deny the allegation.

A woman identified as “Jane Doe” initially contacted the Indiana State Police to report child pornography and bestiality accusations against Taylor. The case has been handed over from ISP to federal investigators. ISP would not comment specifically on Taylor’s case.

“As a police agency, we’re going to evaluate each one, evaluate the information we receive and then the information that we gather from that. It will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office to decide what happens with it,” said Sgt. Rich Myers of the Indiana State Police.

Taylor now faces federal charges. Fogle has not been arrested and does not face charges at this time.
