Gay Kentucky couple denied marriage license

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A video of a gay couple in Kentucky being denied a marriage license is taking over social media.

In the beginning of the video, David Moore and his partner are standing outside the Rowan County Clerk’s Office. They said they are prepared to get denied a marriage license.

The video shows the couple waiting a little over six minutes to be seen.

One of the workers eventually acknowledges them after the couple reminds them they were next in line.

They are told they cannot be helped and that they need to speak with the county clerk.

Eventually, the couple was able to see the county clerk, but she made them turn the camera off.

She said she is refusing to issue marriage licenses to all couples, gay or straight, citing her religious convictions.

The couple did not receive a marriage license.

The clerk’s office is already facing a lawsuit from The American Civil Liberties Union. It was filed last week on behalf of two gay and two straight couples.
