Funeral held for murdered Muncie teen

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Christian Orebaugh, the teen murdered a week ago in Muncie.

The service were held at the South Side Church of Nazarene. The victim’s mother, friends and girlfriend, Lauren, who is pregnant with their unborn child, attended.

As they mourn, the Muncie Police Department wants anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

Several witnesses told investigators that three people were spotted running from the crime scene after gunshots were heard near the victims home in the 200 block of West 23rd Street.

Just one day before the 18-year-old’s funeral service, investigators made their first big move. They arrested a 16-year-old juvenile and charged him with murder. The underage suspect is currently staying at a juvenile detention center. If he is tried as an adult, he will be transferred to the Delaware County Jail.

Tips community members left on the anonymous Crime Stoppers line pointed investigators in the right direction.

“Making the first arrest took a team effort. Our officers worked really hard and people did the right thing by calling in with what they knew about the murder. There are other person(s) of interest that we want to interview. I don’t think the person we have in custody acted alone,” said Muncie Chief of Police Steve Stewart.
