Crews respond to Friday evening residence fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Just after 9 p.m., dispatched received a call of reported smoke coming from a residence in the 4100 block of North Ritter Avenue.

Minutes later, emergency crews were on scene.

After arriving on scene, heavy smoke was discovered coming from the single story structure.

Crews began working to put out the flames and were able to successfully get the fire under control in a approximately twenty minutes.

No one was home at the time, however a pit bull did perish in the fire.

Damages have been estimated at $20,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
