Thousands attend annual Indy Crit cycling race

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Mayor Greg Ballard went pedal to pedal in the sixth annual Indy Crit cycling race Saturday afternoon.

As he took off on his final race as mayor, he says he knew he was going to get beat by the dozens of highly-competitive cyclists.

He said it’s more than competition — it’s to draw attention to and celebrate Indy’s growing cycling culture.

The race started and finished downtown at Monument Circle.

Dozens of media personalities, business leaders and hundreds of cycling enthusiasts joined the mayor.

Thousands showed up out of support and enjoyed food trucks and a sun king beer garden.

All proceeds from the race benefit Feewheelin’ Community Bikes.
