Part of Noblesville traffic pole breaks off during storm

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH)– Heavy rain and strong winds left shredded tree limbs and downed power lines in parts of Noblesville Monday. Duke Energy officials said at one point hundreds of customers in the area were without power.

Some of the people who were in the dark live near 16th and Conner St., where part of a traffic signal pole broke off and ended up in the street. Officials said a massive tree toppled over and hit the pole.

The tree took some power lines down with it. Conner St. was closed as crews worked to clean the debris and restore power.

The tree was in front of Curt Lake’s house.

“It could be so much worse,” Lake said. “With the tree being down, I know the tree is huge. And it’s really, really hard wood. If it had hit the house it would have just devastated it.”

The tree did tear up his front lawn and damage his front steps.

Officials also cleaned debris on SR 19 near Field Dr.
