Chopper 8 surveys damage in Putnam, Marion counties

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Chopper 8 flew over some central Indiana counties on Tuesday that were hardest hit by storms that pushed through overnight.

Pilot Keith McCutchen found a number of trees thrown across yards in Putnam County, specifically over Heritage Lake. Emergency management there said earlier Tuesday that a quarter-mile stretch between Emergency Road 28 and Emergency Road 32 in the Lincoln Hills area was blocked because of large trees that had fallen across the roadways.

Chopper 8 also flew over an area near Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis where even more trees were down, some on top of homes.
