Former parole officer to change plea, avoids trial

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A former parole officer charged with sexual misconduct with a parolee he was supervising intends to plead guilty.

According to 24-Hour News 8 sister station, WTHI, Joseph Granda had been set for trial Wednesday in Owen County.  He’s now set for what’s called a change of plea hearing on August 4th.

Granda worked out of the Terre Haute parole office.  He’s accused of having contact with one of his parolees.  The parolee said the acts were consensual.  Her identity was stricken from a copy of a probable cause affidavit provided to News 10 by the Owen County Prosecutor.

The Department of Correction terminated Granda.  He had been a parole agent since April 2013.
