Kidpreneur inspires kids to start their own businesses

Asia began as Super Business Girl at age 5 when she started making candles and selling them in her Detroit neighborhood. With help from her mom and dad, she melts the wax, adds colors and pours the candles. Through Super Business Girl, Asia aims to teach at-risk youth how to become entrepreneurs and empower themselves.

Through her own talents, Asia, as

Detroit’s youngest entrepreneur, has gained national recognition for being a kidpreneur. She has appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show, PBS and Ted Talks to talk about the importance of creating self-sufficient, business-minded youth. Inspired by her tenacity and driven attitude, Asia was sought out by JUMBiES, a California-based plush toy company to become their spokesperson.

JUMBiES are two animals in one. The JUMBiES story is that while the storks were delivering baby animals they accidentally crashed into each other and two animals became one! So a duck and a monkey becomes a Duckey and a dingo and a bat a Dingbat! There’s also Arthur the Camelot (Camel + Ocelot), Zumbo the Zelephant (Zebra + Elephant) and many more. They’re all different, and it’s fun to imagine the different abilities they could have now that they are two animals in one. There are 12 JUMBiES to collect now and a hard cover book, and they are more JUMBiES being developed as we speak. Each JUMBiES has its own motto like “Don’t be a Dingbat” or “Life’s just Duckey”, they also have a D.O.J. which is their date of jumble.

JUMBiES teach diversity. We have teachers that use them to teach no-bullying as every JUMBiE is different just like every person. JUMBiES teach us that some of us are tall, some of us are short, some of us are dark, some of us are light, but we all have one thing in common–we are all different. And we should celebrate our differences. I hope that with JUMBiES, we can remind young kids that it’s okay to be different. Being different is what makes each of us special.
