Home invasion victim: ‘I thought I was going to die’

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — She says a man tied her up in her home on the city’s north side and held her at knife point.

Police say they’re looking for a suspect.

Natashia Scott says she was taking a nap after work on Wednesday around 6:00 p.m. in her home near 40th Street and College Avenue.

She said she awoke to find her hands tied and her mouth gagged.

“A man was standing right there,” she said. “I thought I was going to die.”

“I couldn’t move and I didn’t know what to do.”

She said she’d left the door unlocked for her kids who were playing down the street. When she woke up, someone had come up the stairs, and was asking for money.

“He had one of my kitchen knives, and he was pointing it towards me. He put it here [pointing to her neck], and was screaming where’s the money, where’s the money,” Scott said.

“I work hard for everything we’ve got,” she said. “I don’t have any money.”

Scott said the suspect said an old nickname of her husband’s that he doesn’t go by any more.

She says her daughter was the one who found her, tied up.

“That’s when I heard her try to scream. I went in there and she was just tied up, and I didn’t know what to do but to untie her,” said her 14-year-old daughter, Unique.

“I just kept praying. We don’t do anything. We go to church, I go to work, spend time with the kids. That’s all we do,” she said.
