Volunteers fill 1,000 backpacks for students in need

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It’s hard to believe, but it’s that time of year to start thinking about back to school.

Thursday morning, the Salvation Army and volunteers from Indianapolis Public Schools filled backpacks with school supplies for students in need.

The need for classroom supplies is going up, in addition to fees per student, so some families can’t afford the essentials.

Volunteers had 1,000 backpacks to fill. Huntington Bank donated money to make it all possible.
