Fishermen find 2 decomposed bodies in Lake County

HOBART, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say fishermen found the decomposed bodies of two men on a wooded property in northwestern Indiana’s Lake County.

The county coroner’s office has ruled both deaths as homicides from gunshot wounds but wasn’t able to immediately identify the men, listing their ages and races as unknown.

Hobart police Lt. James Gonzales says officers were called Friday to the property in a rural area along Indiana 51 about 10 miles southeast of Gary after the fishermen spotted the bodies.

Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Bob Byrd says the two men appeared to have been dead for an extended time.
