Carter Oosterhouse shows how to take the pain out of next home improvement project

carterLove doing DIY projects in your home, but hate the frustrations that come with them?! Home improvement expert, Carter Oosterhouse is no stranger to tackling DIY projects. Carter joined Tracy this morning on Indy Style and shared some simple techniques, from novice to expert, on how to fix homes inside and outside.

Some of Carter’s tips include:
• Know before you grow – Before you start to plant, look around your yard and think of where you want certain plants to grow. Do your research on the types of plants you want and where they should be placed to make sure you design your yard appropriately.
• A little paint goes a long way – If you’re renting an apartment and the landlord’s chosen wall color doesn’t fit your fancy, plan to add an accent wall or pattern by using stencils.
• Backyard basics – If you’re planning on putting in a new patio, use string or rope to outline your patio and give yourself a visual of the space. Measure this outline and bring the measurements with you to your local home goods store to ensure you get the right amount of pavers.
• Update your tool box – Carter will reveal what should be in every DIYers tool kit.
