Engineering firm to assess Tippecanoe Co. Courthouse damage

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Tippecanoe County commissioners are trying to get a full picture of damage on the courthouse in time for budget talks.

As WISH-TV’s sister station WLFI previously reported, pieces of metal have been falling off the courthouse roof. The Board of Commissioners approved a feasibility study Monday morning with RC Engineering.

The firm will look at the damage, then report back with solutions to fix the problem. Commissioner Dave Byers said along with the roof, the firm will look at courthouse lighting and the fountain.

“It has a leak. There is somewhere the water is going,” Byers said. “We’re figuring we’re losing about 30,000 gallons of water a summer. So, obviously, it’s a substantial leak.”

The plan is to have the feasibility study back by September when county budget talks begin. The study costs $25,000.
